About the position

The Iowa Clinic has an exciting opportunity to be a part of a team at our new musculoskeletal-focused ambulatory surgery center. Conveniently located near I-80 in Waukee, this state-of-the-art, 21,000 sq. ft. ASC will offer same-day joint replacement, orthopedic, sports medicine, foot and ankle, pain management surgery and a cardiac catheterization lab in an out-patient setting. Responsibilities

  • Perform duties related to direct patient care as an Operating Room RN.
  • Assess, monitor, and provide professional nursing services for patients of assigned physician(s).
  • Assist physicians with procedures, patient assessment, transfers, and patient education.
  • Utilize the nursing process and effective communication skills in the provision of safe, effective, high-quality nursing services.
  • Assume responsibility for intra-operative patient safety by acting as the nursing advocate for the patient.
  • Monitor sterile and aseptic techniques in all areas of the perioperative process.
  • Perform all circulating duties with efficiency and speed, and scrub duties as necessary.
  • Assist in the setup and cleanup of the operating room, including opening sterile packs, instruments, and supplies.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current RN license to practice nursing in the State of Iowa.
  • Certificate in Basic Cardiac Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (willingness to obtain).
  • Two years nursing experience in an operating room hospital setting.
  • Ambulatory surgery experience is preferred.
