About the position

The Area Sales Manager is responsible for managing and developing a team of sales employees to achieve designated sales plans while improving overall business performance in a direct store delivery environment. This role focuses on building strategic partnerships with customers, driving customer satisfaction, and generating new business through effective sales strategies. The position requires a passionate, self-motivated individual who can lead a team to meet revenue and execution goals while ensuring compliance with company standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop a team of sales employees to achieve designated sales plans.
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with customers to drive satisfaction.
  • Leverage VIP tools for efficient route sales and delivery, customer orders, and productivity.
  • Analyze business trends and opportunities using VIP tools and maintain training levels across sales teams.
  • Lead and motivate District Sales Leads against defined revenue and execution goals.
  • Activate local and national marketplace initiatives to maximize brand performance.
  • Manage distributor relationships and partner with routes on sales execution.
  • Develop the organization by managing performance and individual capability.
  • Ensure the team delivers volume and revenue results while managing costs.
  • Conduct documented 1:1 route rides with DSLs and PSRs to assess capabilities and develop skills.
  • Manage Banner CDA compliance and payment relevant to space, promotion, and execution standards.
  • Review sales activity, performance, and training needs with sales personnel.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members to maintain customer service levels.
  • Proactively contact assigned accounts to identify customer needs and resolve issues.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of the company's services, product line, and pricing structure.
  • Review sales scorecards weekly and leverage data to drive accountability within the team.
  • Identify skill set opportunities within the team and enhance capability through training.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a sales representative and/or sales manager, or 7 years of applicable experience without a degree.
  • Valid Driver's License is required.
  • Experience developing comprehensive strategies, business and sales plans, and schedules.
  • Three years of experience recruiting, hiring, leading, and managing performance for an outside sales team.
