About the position

H2O Innovation provides public works management services and operations assistance for water and wastewater treatment plants to municipalities, government organizations, and businesses across North America. H2O Innovation is seeking an Area Manager for its state-of-the-art Water Reuse Facilities located across the Southeastern U.S. The position will be based out of the Richmond, VA area. This position works under the supervision of the Director of WaterHub Operations and will oversee the administration, operation, and maintenance of the Water Reclamation Facilities. The Area Manager will manage and work closely with a staff of Project Managers who are responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of various pumps, motors, piping, and the plant's process equipment such as membrane bioreactors (MBRs), reverse osmosis (RO), rotary screens, blowers, hydroponic reactors, and ultraviolet disinfection. This position includes plant supervision, performing short- and long-range planning, plant budgets and monthly reports, and managing capital improvement projects. Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, supervise, and schedule resources to meet program and production goals
  • Oversee and develop work-related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Conduct studies, analyze data, and prepare reports and recommendations
  • Formulate and administer budgets
  • Manage and modify employee work assignments according to plant needs
  • Interpret and apply regulatory requirements controlling plant processes
  • Recommend staffing levels and manage procurement of plant equipment
  • Maintain plant-specific safety and emergency management programs
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and consultants
  • Conduct tours and maintain excellent host site relationships

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, or related field preferred
  • Five or more years of supervisory experience in wastewater treatment plant operations
  • Heavy background in maintenance of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic equipment (e.g., MBRs, PLCs, VFDs, pumps)
  • Certification Desired: State of Virginia, Class 2 Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator License (or equivalent)
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle record
  • Background in budget development, customer service, and regulatory compliance
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
