About the position
The Area Manager at Frozen Food Express is responsible for overseeing the logistics and transportation operations at the Lithonia, GA location. This role involves ensuring safe and timely delivery of freight, managing driver assignments, and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction. The Area Manager will interact with both drivers and customers, supervise driver performance, and streamline operational processes to enhance service efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Match the right equipment, drivers, and loads for safe and timely freight delivery.
- Select optimum driver and load assignments while considering service requirements and operating costs.
- Interact with customers daily to meet service and cost expectations.
- Serve as a liaison between drivers and management, ensuring effective communication.
- Supervise assigned drivers, including performance counseling and disciplinary actions.
- Review and create outbound and pickup routes for customer satisfaction.
- Assist in managing delivery service effectiveness within budget.
- Work with management to streamline product flow.
- Utilize the Qualcomm system for driver performance monitoring and trip reporting.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 3+ years of current transportation or logistic management experience
- In-depth knowledge of transportation, flat bed, rail, and motor carriers
- Current working knowledge of DOT, Federal & State Regulations
- Ability to communicate, manage, and influence effectively
- Highly organized with exceptional follow-up abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills for planning and decision-making
- Highly motivated, flexible, and positive attitude
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Current working knowledge of AS400 software
- Ability to work independently or in a team setting
- Capable of working under tight time constraints in a fast-paced environment
