About the position

The Area Manager (AM) is responsible for overseeing inventory management and ensuring accurate counts to support the District Manager. This role involves planning and executing inventory events, training and developing district employees, and acting as the Manager on Duty in the absence of the District Manager. The AM plays a crucial role in team building, customer service, and the financial performance of the district, while embodying the company's SPIRIT values.

Responsibilities

  • Builds high performing teams by identifying top talent and providing training and ongoing development of Inventory Supervisors and Inventory Associates.
  • Leads on-site inventories at various customer locations, ensuring operational excellence.
  • Demonstrates safe behaviors and ensures team safety at all times.
  • Completes all inventory pre-planning tasks to ensure operational excellence.
  • Manages inventory flow plans and directs Inventory Associates and Supervisors during the inventory process.
  • Assists with planning and execution of District travel and equipment logistics.
  • Supports the development, training, onboarding, and retention of all employees.
  • Exhibits exemplary customer service and maintains positive relationships with customers and employees.
  • Conducts pre-inventory visits with customer management and logistics review site visits.
  • Works scheduled Manager on Duty shifts as requested by the District Manager or Regional Director.
  • Supports District and Regional Leadership in various tasks including driver certification and equipment management.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in an Inventory role or similar retail position.
  • Strong work ethic with a focus on team-oriented goals and collaboration.
  • Proven track record of recruiting, hiring, and developing talent.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong time-management skills.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules in various environments.
  • Valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance may be required.

  • Experience in a managerial role within retail or inventory management.
  • Knowledge of logistics and equipment management.
