About the position

Bechtel is looking for an experienced Architect that has designed and built data centers, and is well-versed in the unique aspects of such projects, including: air flow management, power distribution, and life safety considerations. You will plan, develop, design, coordinate, and review architectural work on large projects with unique requirements. You will prepare discipline estimates and work plans, review and approve design documents, interpret regulations, and assist with performance reporting. Your recommendations for resolving complex issues will help ensure client satisfaction with a project's architectural aspects. This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, develops, coordinates and reviews architectural work on large size projects or assignments in support of a global business unit.
  • Coordinates and interfaces as directed with the day-to-day technical work of personnel.
  • Interacts with client personnel to determine their needs, present design options, and gain approval of design solutions that meet the client's needs and desires.
  • Develops scope for cost estimates for services and participates in proposal preparation and presentation.
  • Develops conceptual designs for architectural projects or projects having specialized or unique architectural requirements.
  • Supports preparation of estimates, staffing needs and schedules.
  • Provides the technical input to meet procurement requirements.
  • Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule, and budget, and supports implementation and assists with performance reporting.
  • Interprets new or special regulations, codes, standards, criteria, and performance data.
  • Reviews and approves key design documents, supplier drawings and data, material specifications, drawings, and change orders, for the project to which assigned.
  • Mentors architectural personnel by providing on-the-job training for their professional development.

Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of Data Center building types or Industrial or Semiconductor projects occupancies, and broad familiarity with other engineering disciplines.
  • Knowledge of Building codes and building permitting.
  • A professional architectural license is required.
  • Familiarity with Revit, Bluebeam, Navisworks.

Nice-to-haves

  • Preferred Experience with design, construction, and commissioning activities, and a thorough understanding of the roles played by other departments on projects.
