About the position
The Apprentice Wrapper Tech is responsible for setting up and maintaining wrapping machines in a manufacturing environment, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards. This role involves troubleshooting mechanical issues, performing preventive maintenance, and maintaining accurate records of operations. The position requires effective communication and a focus on continuous improvement in food quality and safety processes.
Responsibilities
- Set up wrapping machines for the correct product variety and ensure proper coding is legible and in the correct location.
- Troubleshoot and address electrical and mechanical issues with the wrapping machines.
- Perform preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Assist with re-wraps and support operators as necessary during production.
- Communicate all changes made during the shift and at shift changes to ensure smooth operations.
- Complete daily log sheets and distribute them to supervision at the end of the shift.
- Maintain cleanliness of the work area and machines to meet safety and quality standards.
- Understand and apply Hostess scheduling for efficiency in ingredient and product flow.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 1-3 years of industrial maintenance experience.
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment to ensure optimum efficiency and product quality.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Nice-to-haves
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Understanding of commercial bakeries and bakery equipment preferred.
- Previous experience working on and troubleshooting high-speed packaging and wrapping equipment strongly preferred.
- Experience in food manufacturing preferred.
