About the position
Mesa Energy Systems, a subsidiary of EMCOR Group, Inc., is seeking an Apprentice Service Technician to join our team in El Cajon, CA. As a leading provider of mechanical and electrical construction and facilities services, we pride ourselves on delivering fully integrated HVAC solutions that meet our customers' needs. The Apprentice Service Technician will play a crucial role in assisting with the assembly, installation, servicing, and repair of heating, air conditioning, and other HVAC equipment. This position is ideal for individuals who are self-motivated and can work with minimal supervision while adhering to safety standards set by OSHA and NFPA. In this role, you will be responsible for various tasks including retrofit installations, ductwork, refrigeration piping, and wiring. You will also assist in the installation and change-outs of ductwork in commercial settings. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in HVAC systems and a willingness to learn and grow within the company. This position requires a commitment to maintaining safe work practices and a dedication to providing high-quality service to our customers. As an entry-level position, we are looking for candidates who are enrolled in an apprenticeship program and have a high school diploma or GED. Strong communication skills, both oral and written, are essential, as you will need to follow instructions and perform duties under supervision. The ability to operate hand tools and equipment safely is also a requirement. This position may involve physical demands such as lifting materials up to 50 lbs, climbing stairs and ladders, and working at heights. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be required to ensure safety on the job.
Responsibilities
- Assist in assembling, installing, servicing, and repairing HVAC equipment.
- Perform retrofit installations, ductwork, refrigeration piping, and wiring.
- Install and change-out ductwork in commercial settings.
- Maintain safe work practices in accordance with OSHA Health & Safety and NFPA 70e standards.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Enrolled in an Apprenticeship program.
- Entry-level experience in maintaining and working with HVAC equipment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with supervision.
- Knowledge and experience in the proper use and safe operation of hand tools and equipment.
- Valid Vehicle Operator's license.
- Ability to stand, sit, or squat for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, move, and carry material up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and work at extended heights.
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Working knowledge of desktop computers and Internet-based programs.
