About the position

The Applications Scientist - Synthetic Biology at Integrated DNA Technologies (IDT) is responsible for providing pre- and post-sales technical support for a growing Synthetic Biology product offering. This role involves communicating with customers, troubleshooting product applications, and ensuring compliance with biosecurity policies. The position requires a strong background in life sciences and experience in genomics applications, with a focus on customer satisfaction and problem resolution.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with and support customers to provide pre- and post-sales technical support for Synthetic Biology products.
• Answer customer inquiries related to Synthetic Biology via phone, email, and chat, documenting interactions in the CRM database.
• Troubleshoot product use and applications using customer data and IDT databases.
• Support the complaint triage and investigation process, assisting with complaint resolution by determining causes and selecting solutions.
• Provide custom screening, design, and optimization of customers' DNA sequences while ensuring compliance with biosecurity policies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in life sciences (Biology, Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry) or related scientific field.
• 5+ years of experience with genomics applications in an industry or academic research laboratory environment.
• Advanced understanding of DNA structure, cloning, molecular biology, and genetics.
• Experience with DNA search and design tools such as BLAST, DNA*, Primer3, etc.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze data, identify key issues, and solve problems using critical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• M.S or Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline (Biology, Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry).
• 2+ years of experience as a Scientific Applications Scientist or in a customer-facing scientific support role preferred.
