About the position

The primary job responsibility is coding and technical execution of local news and programming utilizing the Ross Overdrive Automated Production Control Environment while working closely with producers to ensure the programs are professionally done, aired on time, and free from error. Other responsibilities include direction of talent and other production crew members, collaborating with editorial and technical personnel to produce high quality, compelling content, documenting technical procedures and processes, operating graphic and clip playback server operation via Ross Xpression and Dalet Brio, and robotic camera controls using Ross Software (Smart shell). The role also involves setting up and maintaining studio equipment and lighting, working with management and engineering staff to refine workflows, shaping the overall creative appearance of the broadcast, giving direction and timing to talent and technicians, and participating in station-sponsored events and special projects.

Responsibilities

• Coding and technical execution of local news and programming using Ross Overdrive.
• Direction of talent and production crew members.

Requirements

• One year of related work experience as director and/or technical director of a news program.
• Minimum one year of hands-on experience with automated production control systems.
• Experience with advanced production switcher operation and setup.
• Bilingual English/Spanish oral proficiency.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
• Must be willing to work in Las Vegas, NV area.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism or Communications.
• Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience with Ross Overdrive.
• Ability to work under pressure of intense deadlines.
• Knowledge of control room production within a 24-hour news cycle.
• Familiarity with Dalet Galaxy, Dalet OneCut, Ross Xpression, Ross Furio robotics system.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to seek simple solutions to complex problems.
• A sense of urgency and desire to learn emerging technologies.
• Strong journalistic skills.
• Significant experience in the news environment.
• Understanding of camera settings (Iris, Focus, Volume, Light, etc.).
• Knowledge in Adobe Premiere Pro or other editing platforms.
