About the position

The AP Assessment Fellow, Government and Politics at The College Board is a full-time, paid position within a two-year fellowship program designed to cultivate the next generation of assessment leaders in education. The role involves extensive training in assessment design, collaboration with subject-matter experts, and participation in the development and management of AP exam content. The fellow will gain practical experience and mentorship while contributing to the College Board's mission of promoting equity and excellence in education.

Responsibilities

  • Learn about item development and management from authoring to administration.
  • Support training and collaboration with subject-matter experts (SMEs) on how to author assessment content.
  • Understand assessment development protocols and the translation between academics and technical experts.
  • Support the development and management of all assessment content through iterative review stages.
  • Attend and support the scoring of student AP Exams at the annual scoring event.
  • Contribute to learning and best practices related to assessment by participating in discussions with other staff members.

Requirements

  • Masters degree in Government and Politics or a related field; doctorate preferred.
  • 3+ years professional experience post-college.
  • Emerging interest and ability in assessment and curriculum design.
  • Experience developing assessments or curriculum for own classroom.
  • Strong commitment to excellence and personal and professional growth.
  • Resourceful, intellectually curious, and empathetic.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in educational assessment organizations.
  • Familiarity with AP curriculum and assessment standards.
