About the position
The Bilingual Education Teacher is responsible for providing instruction and specialized services to students to enhance their ability to perform in English language courses. This role involves developing lesson plans, administering assessments, and maintaining records of student progress. The teacher will implement instructional methods that support limited English proficient students and establish positive learning environments. Responsibilities also include maintaining discipline, communicating with parents, and participating in professional development.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for instructional planning and providing lesson plans for each assigned student.
- Administer tests and language assessments to evaluate students' language ability.
- Assess students' progress and goals in the bilingual program.
- Develop and deliver lesson plans utilizing appropriate instructional techniques.
- Establish positive learning expectations and evaluate students' progress.
- Maintain accurate records of students' achievements.
- Implement instructional methods based on contemporary learning theories.
- Participate in programs to improve student attendance.
- Promote anti-vandalism programs in schools.
- Maintain responsible rules of conduct within the classroom and school grounds.
- Communicate with parents or guardians regarding students' academic progress.
- Participate in in-service meetings and professional staff meetings.
- Coordinate and attend class field trips and extracurricular activities.
Requirements
- Successful completion of all student teaching requirements.
- Completion of all coursework required to obtain the appropriate teaching license(s) issued by the Illinois State Board of Education.
- Possession of the appropriate Illinois State Board of Education issued educator license with a bilingual endorsement.
