About the position

The University of Washington Bothell Advancement team has an exciting opening for an Annual, Digital, and Discovery Philanthropy Officer. This is a full-time, permanent position. The Annual, Digital, and Discovery Philanthropy Officer supports the University of Washington Bothell's development efforts as they relate to annual giving, corporate sponsorship and major gift qualification. This position oversees all aspects of annual giving and various aspects of digital giving, including strategically messaging, preparing and distributing solicitation materials. This position is also responsible for a high volume of stewardship and donor outreach and contacts through events, personal visits, cold-calling, direct mail and digital communications.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of alumni, non-alumni and organizational donors and prospects.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, negotiate and close leadership-level annual gifts (between $1,000-$10,000+).
  • Ensure solicitations are strategically developed to increase funding, including leveraging email, mail, digital platforms and social media, as needed.
  • Proactively work to qualify alumni and individual donor prospects through customized cold calls and digital outreach, making 15 substantial contacts per week and an average of 1-2 in-person personal visits per week.
  • Discover new prospects who have the capacity and inclination for making major or planned gifts ($25,000+).
  • Assist the Director of Corporate & Foundation Relations in identifying and soliciting event sponsorships from local businesses.
  • Plan, implement and evaluate all UW Bothell annual giving campaigns in partnership with University Advancement's teams.
  • Strategically identify donor segments, prepare solicitation content, coordinate all solicitation schedules and manage other special market appeals specific to UW Bothell's annual donor base.
  • Prepare marketing and solicitation materials directed toward UW Bothell alumni and friends that have strategic fundraising goals.
  • In collaboration with the UW Alumni & Stakeholder Engagement team, plan and execute strategic discovery activities that lead to prospect qualification and follow-up.
  • Prepare reports for the UW Bothell Advancement leadership team on the outcomes of all annual giving campaigns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree AND at least two years of experience in fundraising, preferably in higher education or related field or related transferable skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
  • Demonstrated professional experience in relationship-building.
  • Ability to collaborate, build and maintain positive working relationships and actively contribute as a member of teams to achieve results.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain privacy and protect confidential information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office for generating correspondence, special reports and spreadsheets.
  • Must have regular and reliable transportation for local travel.
