The City of Sugar Land is seeking a full-time Animal Shelter Supervisor in the Animal Service Department. We pay our Animal Shelter Supervisor a starting salary of $71,906 - $82,700 depending on your qualifications and experience. Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the Animal Shelter and assist with the overall health and wellbeing of the animals in the care of the Animal Shelter.
  • Assist with personnel vacancies and shortages within the shelter, either personally or by delegation.
  • Perform daily rounds and visual checks of shelter animals; notify veterinary technician of any potential medical issues.
  • Implement and update Standard Operating Procedures and processes as applicable.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for the Shelter Operations division, including Kennel and Veterinary Technicians and their equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Oversee and track division performance measures, strategic projects, and other initiatives.
  • Oversee and supervise staff to ensure consistency and adherence with local and state codes, laws, and regulations pertaining to the humane treatment of shelter animals.
  • Required to work as an essential employee before, during, and after an emergency or disaster.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Animal Services Manager or his/her designee.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required. Prefer degree in Animal Science, Public Health Administration, or Public Administration.
  • Minimum of four years of progressive experience in Shelter or Animal Control Operations.
  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum qualifications may be substituted.
  • Municipal or County experience preferred.
  • Valid Class 'C' Texas Driver License.
  • Certified Animal Control Officer in good standing with the Texas Department of State Health Services preferred but not required.
  • Certified Veterinary Technician preferred but not required.
