About the position

BlackRock's Legal and Compliance Department plays a crucial role in ensuring that the company's investment management products and business solutions comply with a myriad of legal and regulatory requirements. This position offers a unique opportunity for a highly motivated and intellectually curious analyst to join a small, dynamic Corporate Legal team. The team handles a diverse range of topics including corporate governance, sustainability, public reporting, and finance for the world's largest asset manager. As part of this role, you will develop expertise in public company governance, focusing on Board processes, corporate sustainability disclosures, public company reporting requirements, corporate philanthropy, and corporate subsidiary management. In this position, you will gain broad exposure to BlackRock's corporate governance, public affairs, and corporate sustainability practices and initiatives. The role is designed for someone who is eager to learn and grow professionally, as it will evolve over time. You will be an integral part of the team, contributing to special projects, presentations, communications, team initiatives, and industry research. Responsibilities

  • Managing Board of Directors and Committee meeting preparation in consultation with various teams.
  • Assisting with the drafting of presentations and materials for the Board's Governance Committee and senior management.
  • Assisting with the secure distribution and retention of records and materials.
  • Supporting BlackRock's public-company disclosures, including SEC reporting and sustainability reporting.
  • Assisting with the management and statutory compliance of BlackRock's U.S. based subsidiaries.
  • Coordinating with global corporate secretarial colleagues to maintain accurate legal entity information.
  • Coordinating and supporting internal corporate restructurings and intercompany transactions.
  • Assisting with legal entity governance processes to ensure compliance with governance documents and applicable laws.
  • Providing project-related support, research, and analysis of corporate governance and public disclosure matters.
  • Assisting with the filing of Section 16 reports on behalf of Directors and senior management.
  • Proactively identifying opportunities to improve processes.

Requirements

  • Ability to balance multiple and conflicting priorities and significant concurrent tasks to meet deadlines with high accuracy.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with an aptitude for research and simplifying complex concepts.
  • Ability to manage complex, interdepartmental projects in a professional, deadline-driven manner.
  • High-energy, positive attitude, and ability to work as a team player while accepting individual responsibility.
  • Creativity and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Undergraduate college degree (BA/BS).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio).
