About the position

The Ambulatory Pharmacy Technician II at Cambridge Health Alliance plays a crucial role in supporting the pharmacy team by managing patient profiles, entering prescription orders, and assisting pharmacists in various tasks. This position emphasizes patient care, safety, and collaboration within the health system, utilizing advanced pharmacy systems and automation to enhance service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately create and maintain patient profiles in the pharmacy computer system.
  • Register patients and enter prescription orders into the computer systems.
  • Assist patients and family members with prescription drop-offs and set pick-up expectations.
  • Support Ambulatory Pharmacists in filling prescription orders and compounding non-sterile products.
  • Dispense prescriptions and offer counseling to patients as needed.
  • Handle phone calls from patients and healthcare providers.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or directed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • MA Pharmacy Technician license is required.
  • Current pharmacy technician registration in good standing from the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Pharmacy or eligibility for registration in MA.
  • Completion of a Board of Pharmacy approved certifying body pharmacy technician certification examination is preferred.
  • Minimum of one year experience as a pharmacy technician is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with EPIC for Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
  • Familiarity with Parata/RapidPak automation for dispensing.
