About the position

The Ambulatory Care Nurse at NYU Brooklyn Medical Associates plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive patient care, coordinating nursing practices, and implementing clinical policies. This position involves direct patient interaction, including assessments, medication administration, and collaboration with healthcare providers to develop patient-centered care plans. The nurse will also engage in quality improvement activities and support the overall mission of NYU Langone Health to enhance patient outcomes and experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Perform physical examinations and diagnostic tests.
  • Collect patient health history and record information in electronic health records.
  • Provide information, counsel, and education to patients and families regarding test results and treatment plans.
  • Administer medications, including vaccinations and IV therapy, and provide comprehensive wound care.
  • Assess and monitor patient responses to various treatments and procedures.
  • Consult with clinical supervisors and licensed providers to determine best treatment plans for patients.
  • Direct, supervise, and delegate tasks to licensed practical nurses, medical assistants, and technicians as needed.
  • Participate in quality initiatives and ensure clinical compliance with patient safety initiatives.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide patient care in a healing environment.
  • Engage in self-assessment and professional development activities.

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is highly preferred; a Diploma or Associates Degree in Nursing requires a minimum of one year experience with plans to earn a baccalaureate degree.
  • Current Registered Professional Nurse in New York.
  • Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association.
  • Fluent written and spoken English language skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • ACLS certification.
