About the position

Muj-- is an omakase-style modern edomae sushi restaurant that prides itself on delivering an exceptional dining experience. We are a small, intimate restaurant with only 15 seats, focusing exclusively on dinner service. As an AM Sous Chef, you will play a crucial role in our kitchen, ensuring that we maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and organization. Your responsibilities will include receiving and processing all deliveries, as well as assisting with daily prep tasks that are essential for executing our dinner service. While knowledge of Japanese cuisine is a plus, it is not a requirement. We are looking for someone who is organized, familiar with proper sanitation standards, and committed to upholding our high standards of food quality and presentation. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and be dedicated to continuous learning and improvement in their culinary skills.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and process all deliveries to ensure quality and freshness of ingredients.
  • Assist with daily prep tasks to support the execution of dinner service.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen at all times.
  • Adhere to proper sanitation standards and food safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with the head chef and kitchen team to ensure smooth operations during service.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in the hospitality industry.
  • Experience in fine dining preferred but not mandatory.
  • Professional appearance with attention to grooming and personal hygiene.
  • Positive attitude and a self-motivated willingness to learn and be taught.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Japanese cuisine is a plus but not required.
