About the position

The AIX System Administrator role is focused on managing and automating the AIX operating system and its components. The position requires extensive experience in Unix technologies, particularly AIX, and involves regular system administration tasks, automation of software lifecycle management, and proactive issue resolution. The role is contract-based and requires the candidate to work collaboratively and independently while contributing to coding best practices and analytics for system performance.

Responsibilities

• Regular System Administrator activities
• Automate software lifecycle management for Operating system components, support software, and configuration management
• Identify toil in Operating Systems and build self-services
• Contribute towards developing coding best practices
• Apply analytics on past data for predicting issues and take proactive actions
• Transition work schedule from Monday - Friday to either Tuesday-Saturday or Sunday-Thursday

Requirements

• 8+ years professional experience in Unix Operating system technologies
• Experience with operating system and clustering component configuration
• 3 - 5 years' experience with development of automations in OS administration and peripheral infrastructure technologies
• Strong experience with automation and orchestration tools, including Ansible, Python, and UNIX scripting
• Expert knowledge of AIX LVM, LPAR profile creation, configuration, and PowerVM administration
• Strong comfort level with BigFix and NIM administration and automation
• Solid foundation with network concepts and AIX, VIOS network administration
• Familiarity with AIX performance monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting
