About the position

The Airline Baggage Service Agent at JFK Airport is responsible for managing all aspects of baggage service functionality, ensuring efficient communication with passengers, and handling lost and found items. This role requires proficiency in using World Tracer for baggage tracking and involves physical tasks such as lifting and standing for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Proficient in all Baggage Service-related functionality
  • In-depth knowledge of World Tracer (W/T) including creating, amending, and closing AHL, DPR, OHD files
  • Perform daily proactive/reactive communication with passengers
  • Clear expedited and left behind baggage through US Customs and set up local and FedEx deliveries
  • Maintain inventory of OHD baggage
  • Register lost and found items in W/T, maintain documentation and follow-up with passengers
  • Sweep the bag room and the departure pier daily to action left behind or late received interline baggage
  • Send W/T forwarding messages for all bags being expedited from the port
  • Respond timely to emails, telexes, and phone calls

Requirements

  • Basic Math skills
  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying up to 70 lbs.
  • Constant interaction with passengers and management
  • Frequent telephone and computer usage
