About the position
The Air Force Clinical Social Worker (FAIS) position at Joint Base Andrews involves providing support to the Air Force Family Advocacy Program (FAP). The role focuses on assessing and treating families referred for suspected maltreatment, offering prevention services, and conducting community behavioral health education. The FAIS is a key member of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to preventing and responding to family violence and abuse.
Responsibilities
- Assess families referred for suspected maltreatment and treat individuals, families, and groups involved.
- Provide voluntary, comprehensive prevention services primarily in home settings to prevent family maltreatment.
- Offer voluntary prevention counseling to individuals, families, or groups at risk for maltreatment.
- Direct the development and implementation of secondary prevention services.
- Provide community behavioral health education and family violence education/prevention training.
Requirements
- Master's degree from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited school.
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker at the independent level with a current, unrestricted State license.
- Two years' full-time post-master's degree experience providing clinical counseling services to adults and children experiencing family violence.
- Experience as a group therapy facilitator or co-leader.
- Ability to obtain privileges at the Military Treatment Facility (MTF).
- Basic Life Support Certification (Course C).
- Transportation and a valid driver's license.
- Computer proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Office, and data entry skills for maintaining clinical records.
