About the position

The Agronomy Sales Specialist is responsible for promoting cooperative programs related to the marketing of agricultural products and services, optimizing market share, and improving operational efficiency. This role involves making recommendations for the use of chemicals and fertilizers, managing seed sales, and maintaining customer relationships within a designated territory. The position also includes field scouting and coordinating scheduling for agricultural applications.

Responsibilities

• Promote cooperative programs related to marketing of products and services.
• Make proper recommendations and placement of chemicals and fertilizers.
• Manage seed sales as an integral part of the position.
• Maintain and build customer relationships within the assigned territory.
• Conduct field scouting and coordinate spread, spray, and lime scheduling.
• Make accurate price and quantity quotes for fertilizers and chemicals.
• Assist other departments during peak seasons.
• Perform computer work for fertilizer, chemical, and seed recommendations.
• Compile lists of current and prospective customers for sales leads.
• Ensure compliance with safety and government regulations.

Requirements

• Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
• One year of related experience and/or training in an agriculture program or position.
• Knowledge of agronomic practices and applications related to seed, fertilizer, soils, and ag-chemicals.
• Mathematical skills to calculate discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in customer service within the agricultural sector.
• Familiarity with safety and government regulations in agriculture.
