About the position

The Agricultural Economic Development Coordinator is responsible for project coordination and administrative support for the Tourism & Economic Development Office, focusing on food systems, economic development, and small business initiatives. This role involves managing complex assignments with minimal supervision, engaging with community stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with grant requirements. The coordinator will also analyze data for decision-making and collaborate with various departments to advance food system projects.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the development and implementation of food system projects, including the County Small Farmer Grant program and the Food Hub master plan.
  • Manage professional service agreements related to food systems and economic development.
  • Oversee the County's Small Business Certification Program.
  • Engage with community members and stakeholders to promote food system initiatives.
  • Assist in developing and implementing economic development and food system policies.
  • Conduct economic analysis and assist with legislative initiatives and advisory board presentations.
  • Manage grant applications and ensure compliance with reporting and payment processing requirements.
  • Compose documents for Board presentations and community outreach, including social media posts and press releases.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data for program evaluation and decision-making.
  • Coordinate financial aspects of food system projects, including budgeting and expenditure tracking.
  • Utilize GIS software for spatial analyses related to food systems and economic development.
  • Collaborate with various departments and external partners to achieve project goals.
  • Identify and address challenges in food system development.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in food systems, agriculture, economics, or a related field.
  • Two years of progressively responsible administrative experience in government, private sector, or non-profit organizations.
  • Valid Florida Driver License with a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record.
  • Considerable knowledge in grant writing and administration.
  • Strong project coordination and organizational skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and utilize GIS software.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

Benefits
