About the position

The Program Educator/Driver at Girls Inc. of Omaha is responsible for delivering engaging programs and supervising activities for girls aged 5 to 18. This part-time role focuses on creating a safe and welcoming environment, encouraging girls' strengths, and providing support in various educational topics. The educator will also assist with transportation and ensure compliance with safety procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging lessons to girls covering various topics including literacy, science, math, arts & crafts, and physical fitness.
  • Ensure that Girls Inc. is a welcoming and safe space for girls.
  • Use a warm and welcoming tone with girls.
  • Encourage girls' strengths and curiosity.
  • Celebrate girls' successes and express confidence in a classroom setting.
  • Maintain a productive classroom using appropriate student management techniques.
  • Provide a safe environment for girls by assisting with safety procedures and drills.
  • Participate in staff development opportunities when appropriate.
  • Serve as a role model for girls in social skills, communication, and conflict resolution.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings.
  • Complete program paperwork, including daily outcome reports and attendance sheets.
  • Substitute in any classroom or assist in transportation routes as needed.
  • Interact appropriately with girls and ensure they follow transportation rules.
  • Assist girls with meals and snacks as required.
  • Sanitize high-touch areas of the classrooms as required.
  • Drive Girls Inc. vehicles to pick up from school or transport girls to field trips.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to be accepted as a driver by Girls Inc.'s insurance company.
  • Experience with children in a structured setting preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification preferred.
  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Experience working with children in a structured setting.
  • Positive reference from a former employer verifying 1500 clock hours of experience in organized activities for young children.
