About the position

The Affluent Market Financial Advisor at M&T Bank serves as a key advisor, providing tailored financial solutions to a designated book of business within the mass affluent customer segment. This role focuses on actively soliciting investments and insurance solutions, collaborating with various internal teams to deliver comprehensive advice-based solutions that align with clients' individual needs and best interests.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare recommendations for customized financial solutions based on individualized needs analysis.
  • Deliver a diversified set of brokerage, investment, and insurance solutions to meet the needs of clients.
  • Utilize Centers of Influence (COIs) to offer a full scope of investment products and services.
  • Increase assets under management by leveraging partnerships in Retail and Business Banking.
  • Advise customers on the advantages and disadvantages of different product decisions.
  • Coach and mentor less experienced Financial Advisors and staff.
  • Meet or exceed established sales goals while complying with policies and regulations.
  • Maintain customer appointment activity logs to substantiate advisory and referral activity.
  • Build referral channels and develop strong partnerships with Retail and Wealth partners.
  • Conduct ongoing account reviews and re-evaluate customer needs.
  • Deliver high-quality customer service during each interaction.
  • Ensure accuracy in completing required paperwork to comply with regulations.
  • Serve as a primary supervisor to manage customer relationships and deliver investment solutions.
  • Regularly review customer information for compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Identify risk-related issues and escalate them to management as needed.
  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain internal control standards and implement audit points as applicable.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 years' higher education and/or work experience, including 4 years' investment or insurance sales experience.
  • FINRA Series 7, 63, and 65 or 66 licenses.
  • Pertinent state Life/Variable Insurance licenses.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience with trust/fiduciary products, Financial Planning, Managed Accounts, or insurance.
  • CFP (Certified Financial Planner), CLU (Chartered Life Underwriter), or ChFC (Chartered Financial Consultant) designation.
