About the position

The Advanced Generation Specialist at Mon Power, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp, is responsible for coordinating outage and non-outage projects at the Fort Martin Power Station. This role requires proficiency in technical and business processes, strong troubleshooting skills, and a focus on continuous improvement. The specialist will oversee contractor activities, manage project schedules and budgets, and ensure safety compliance during operations.

Responsibilities

  • Planning, coordinating, and executing activities related to contractor-performed outage and non-outage projects.
  • Coaching and providing guidance to outage coordinators.
  • Developing estimates for labor and material for projects.
  • Preparing and maintaining outage and project records.
  • Coordinating outage and project work within an approved schedule and budget.
  • Developing and submitting outage/project work orders.
  • Providing support for assessing risk and developing risk mitigation plans for outage/project work.
  • Maintaining the outage work backlog.
  • Providing planning support for forced outages and planned outage projects.
  • Developing outage scope documents.
  • Providing safety oversight of contractor-performed outage and non-outage projects.
  • Completing company required incident reports and supporting safety investigations and audits.
  • Assisting the Outage Supervisor in executing forced outages and developing project estimates, budgets, and schedules.
  • Supporting other station personnel in monitoring station equipment system health and maintenance.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Engineering Technology or Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • 4-7 years of experience in a power plant setting or work management (in lieu of a degree).
  • 7-10 years of experience in a power plant setting or work management for senior candidates.
  • Understanding of basic power station operation, equipment, and procedures.
  • Proficiency in work management software and strong SAP knowledge.
  • Qualified or able to qualify in the use of various power station support and mobile equipment (e.g., overhead cranes, mobile cranes, fork trucks).
  • Experience with coordinating projects, outages, or equivalent projects is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Working knowledge of various Microsoft products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access).
  • Experience with scheduling software is preferred.
  • Willingness to work extended hours as necessary to meet deadlines.
