About the position

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking experienced Signal & Image Process Engineers and RF Payload Systems Engineers to join the Radar Processing and Analysis Department (RPAD) within the Electronics and Sensors Division (ESD). This role focuses on developing innovative Radar and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) solutions for space applications, requiring a strong technical background and the ability to lead integration efforts across multiple projects. The position emphasizes collaboration with technical experts and customer engagement to support critical national missions.

Responsibilities

  • Engineer innovative and sophisticated Radar and SAR solutions for the latest space applications.
  • Architect SAR antenna, payload, and sensor performance for mission success.
  • Characterize performance to support program acquisition, planning, and maturation.
  • Serve as an integration leader or coordinator of technical contributors.
  • Partner with technical experts to explore the art of the possible for government solutions.
  • Serve as the principal technical representative to customer, coordinating efforts on several smaller projects in concurrent operations or on portions of larger multi-phase multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Support a portfolio of high-impact projects, engaging with other experts across multiple disciplines to explore innovative enterprise solutions to critical national missions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline and 8 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Experience using MATLAB or Python to implement solutions to problems.
  • Significant experience with antenna and/or payload hardware designs.
  • Work with modeling and simulation of SAR sensor hardware performance.
  • Space-based systems experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI access clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government.
  • U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
  • For Senior Engineering Specialist: Bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline and 12 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with antenna, payload, and/or sensor integration and test.
  • Experience supporting space system acquisition and/or satellite operations for the IC.
  • Track record as an integration leader or coordinator of technical teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Masters or PhD degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Geophysics, or related technical discipline.
  • Proven experience in leadership and ability to mentor junior staff.
  • Experience as the principal technical representative to customer, coordinating efforts on several smaller projects in concurrent operations or on portions of larger multi-phase multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Experience with SAR signal and image and/or SAR MTI processing.
  • Advanced SAR processing techniques.
  • Current and active Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
