About the position

The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the Medicine, Cell Therapy department at the University of Miami is responsible for delivering comprehensive medical care to a diverse patient population. This role involves examining and treating patients independently, collaborating with healthcare professionals, and ensuring effective illness and injury care, disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. The APRN may also prescribe medications and order diagnostic tests, while providing education and support to patients and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and document complete physical examinations and comprehensive health histories.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient's age-specific needs.
  • Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities.
  • Implement interventions to support the patient to regain or maintain physiologic stability.
  • Assist with the provision of care in accordance with facility, state, and federal regulations.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Facilitate the patient's transition within and between health care settings, e.g., admitting, transferring, and discharging patients.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals.
  • Facilitate staff, patient, and family decision making by providing educational tools.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in relevant field.
  • Valid State of Florida APRN License.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.

Nice-to-haves

  • Oncology experience preferred.
  • CPR/BLS certification required.
  • ACLS certification required.
