About the position

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a crucial role within Stormont Vail HealthCare, responsible for delivering advanced nursing and patient care in a clinic setting. The APP operates both independently and collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to manage patient care effectively. This position involves performing medical procedures, designing treatment plans, and ensuring compliance with medical documentation and billing procedures, all while adhering to the organization's mission and values.

Responsibilities

• Function independently and collaboratively with physicians and all disciplines to provide continuity of health care services for individuals, families, and/or groups.
• Obtain complete medical history and physical data on patients.
• Interpret and integrate data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as needed.
• Perform a complete physical exam and record findings.
• Collaborate with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients.
• Order appropriate laboratory diagnostic procedures.
• Synthesize data to determine preliminary diagnostic and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention.
• Administer medications and injections according to physician direction.
• Suture minor lacerations.
• Interview and advise patients regarding health and illness prevention.
• Recommend community resources to meet patients and family needs.
• Instruct patients and family regarding medications and treatment instructions.
• Provide patient education.
• Triage patient telephone calls and provide consultation.
• Maintain and review patient records, charts, and other pertinent information.
• Post tests and examination results.
• Manage medical emergencies.
• Provide monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits.
• Maintain patient confidentiality.
• Continue to be involved in professional organizations and show progress towards individual development.
• Effectively use laboratory equipment in the clinic and know procedures for sending laboratory tests to a reference lab.
• Position and transfer patients to produce a radiograph.
• Ensure that care delivered to patients is provided according to the Stormont-Vail HealthCare mission, strategic plans, and all internal/external regulations, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited PA/APRN program.
• Must hold a valid RN license with advanced practice certification.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
• Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
• Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
• Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Demonstrates supportive behaviors necessary for age-specific care as determined by specific department(s).
• Is knowledgeable of billing and reimbursement issues related to the management of patients.

Nice-to-haves

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support - ACLS certification preferred.
• Additional certifications may be required for certain patient care settings or populations.
