The Department of Plastic & Maxillofacial Surgery is seeking a qualified Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA/APP) to join our team, specializing in hand surgery and general reconstruction for adult and occasionally pediatric populations. The APP will work closely with our plastic surgeons at both UVA Orthopedic Center at Ivy Rd and Main Hospital locations in Charlottesville, VA. The role of the Plastic Surgery Hand PA/NP would include mainly outpatient care of patients and clinical and/or ED procedural care as needed. The Advanced Practice Provider will work closely with collaborating physicians, residents, nurses, and other APP colleagues to provide comprehensive care for patients with various hand and upper extremity conditions. Ideal candidates will be interested in hand surgery, peripheral nerve, and microsurgical skills as well as some general plastic reconstruction. Following an extensive on-boarding process to familiarize our candidates with the UVA Department of Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgery, our newly hired APP's will provide professional services to evaluate and treat various hand and upper extremity conditions, assist in clinic-based procedures, manage perioperative care, and develop treatment plans. The APP would help to facilitate appropriate consultations and referrals as well as coordinate outpatient appointments and testing including: nerve assessment, imaging, and physiotherapy. This position offers significant opportunity for clinic-based procedures including injections, casting, splinting, and first assisting for clinical based procedures - such as carpal tunnel release, trigger finger, mass/lesion, and other procedures performed under wide-awake local anesthesia no tourniquet (WALANT) procedures. It is an attractive prospect for skilled APPs seeking to make a significant impact in a dynamic and multidisciplinary environment.
