About the position

The Advanced Practice Nurse II (APRN II) is a highly skilled nursing professional with graduate-level education, authorized to practice and prescribe as a Clinical Nurse Specialist or Certified Nurse Practitioner. This role involves advanced clinical practice, including patient assessment, diagnostic testing, treatment planning, and patient advocacy. The APRN II collaborates with physicians and healthcare teams to provide comprehensive care, focusing on patient-specific and population-based programs while ensuring ethical and legal standards are met.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates and consults with the interdisciplinary healthcare team, the patient, and family when diagnosing and implementing interventions.
  • Provides consultation and initiates referrals to other healthcare team members, promoting collaboration.
  • Assists team members, patients, and families in selecting therapies that integrate cost and quality benefits.
  • Collaborates with other disciplines in teaching, consultation, management, and research activities to improve nursing practice outcomes.
  • Provides effective leadership and integrates cost-benefit analysis in care decisions.
  • Designs and develops innovative solutions for patient care problems, ensuring resource efficiency and quality improvement.
  • Leads the development and application of evidence-based practice guidelines in the clinical setting.
  • Participates in healthcare-related decision-making at various levels to improve patient outcomes.
  • Serves in key roles on committees, councils, and administrative teams.
  • Utilizes and disseminates research and quality improvement projects to enhance clinical practice and patient outcomes.
  • Critically evaluates existing practices based on research findings and integrates changes into practice through evidence-based projects.
  • Promotes mentoring and education in nursing, serving as a Journal Club mentor and facilitating literature appraisal.
  • Provides education to patients, families, and healthcare providers to promote best practices.
  • Collaborates in assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating educational needs for patients and staff.
  • Ensures nursing practice is ethical and legal, adhering to the Ohio Scope of Practice as an APRN.
  • Independently performs and documents complete history and physical examinations, including psychosocial assessments.
  • Prescribes drugs and therapeutic devices consistent with Ohio law and assesses pharmacologic interventions.
  • Orders and interprets laboratory and radiologic tests, collaborating with physicians to implement comprehensive care plans.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Nursing
  • Graduate from NP, CNS, or midwife program
  • Specialty certification in area of expertise
  • Registered Nurse with APRN Licensure
  • Demonstrated expertise in area of clinical specialization
  • Professional membership in specialty nursing organization required within one year of start date
  • 3-4 years of clinical experience in Nursing
  • Experience in geriatric, occupational health, or other applicable settings.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in healthcare-related decision-making at system, local, state, and national levels
  • Leadership experience in nursing research or quality improvement projects.
