About the position

The position is responsible for responding to emergencies, assessing patients, and providing treatment in accordance with the Pennsylvania Department of Health Basic & Advanced EMT standard curriculum. The role also involves transporting patients according to established protocols and assisting Advanced Life Support (Paramedic) providers with patient care management. Additionally, the EMT must perform non-emergency routine medical transports using ambulances and wheelchair vans, ensuring complete and appropriate documentation is followed up on.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to emergencies and assess patients.
  • Provide treatment in accordance with PA DOH Basic & Advanced EMT standards.
  • Transport patients according to established protocols.
  • Assist Advanced Life Support (Paramedic) providers with patient care management.
  • Perform non-emergency routine medical transports using ambulances and wheelchair vans.
  • Complete appropriate documentation for patient care.

Requirements

  • Basic life support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers Program CPR/AED certified.
  • Current certification as an Advanced EMT in the Commonwealth of PA or eligible for reciprocity if certified in another state.
  • Valid Driver's license required or eligible for a Commonwealth of PA driver's license if out of state.
  • PA DOH EMSVO certification within 30 days of start date.
  • HazMat Awareness Training and NIMS (100, 200, 700, 800) required within 30 days of start date.
  • Must obtain Medical Command within 90 days of start date.

Nice-to-haves

  • Six (6) months of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) experience preferred.
