About the position

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in Urgent Care is responsible for delivering direct consumer care in an urgent care setting, working under limited direction while coordinating with an APP lead. This role requires specialized knowledge and critical thinking to assess and treat minor acute illnesses, manage consumer examinations, and ensure continuity of care across multiple locations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and provide treatments for minor acute illnesses and consumer examinations.
  • Determine abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests and interpreting results.
  • Administer therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, and suturing.
  • Instruct and counsel consumers on therapeutic regimens and wellness promotion.
  • Develop and implement consumer management plans and record progress notes.
  • Supervise ancillary staff as required.
  • Prescribe medications and treatment regimens based on assessed medical conditions.
  • Demonstrate good organizational skills in coordinating services with co-workers and other departments.
  • Respond to stressful situations calmly and rationally, facilitating service integration.
  • Build trust and relationships with consumers and guests in line with service standards.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant required.
  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program required.
  • 6 months as an APP in an urgent care or emergency department setting required, or 1 year in family practice or related field required.
  • Suturing experience strongly preferred.
  • Valid RN License in Texas required upon hire.
  • NP or PA License in Texas required upon hire.
  • National Certification or eligibility for certification as Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant required upon hire.
  • Valid Drug Enforcement Agency license required upon hire.
  • BCLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
