About the position

The Admissions Counselor position at Gulf Coast State College involves providing comprehensive support and detailed information about admission and registration processes to prospective and current students, parents, and faculty. This role requires independent and specialized clerical work, monitoring daily reports, and ensuring accurate processing of admissions documents. The position reports directly to the Associate Director of Enrollment Services and includes supervisory responsibilities for student assistants.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive support and detailed information about admission and registration processes to prospective and current students, parents, the general public, and faculty and staff via in-person, phone, text, and email.
  • Monitor and process assigned daily/weekly reports.
  • Review admission/readmission status and process admissions documents such as Residency Declaration and Personal Information Change forms.
  • Order incoming transcripts and reply to email questions regarding admission and registration processes.
  • Review and manage student holds and verify information for in-state tuition eligibility.
  • Evaluate high school and GED transcripts and post developmental education exemptions as appropriate.
  • Evaluate official college/university transcripts and post/evaluate official test scores.
  • Assist in international student onboarding and supervise department's student assistants.
  • Process residency and/or other application support documents and assist in the maintenance of the general knowledge base for website chatbot responses.

Requirements

  • An Associates degree and four (4) years of progressively responsible clerical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
