Shelvers collect, sort, distribute, and shelve library books and materials in accordance with a predetermined numerical and/or alphabetical classification. They also provide routine circulation assistance to patrons under the direct supervision of the branch’s Circulation Clerks and under the general supervision of the Branch Librarian. Additional responsibilities include straightening, dusting, and arranging books to maintain neat shelves in their assigned areas. Shelvers move chairs and tables in meeting rooms for library programs, and they perform other duties as assigned.
