About the position

The Administrative Assistant for Human Resources plays a crucial role in supporting the HR department by managing various administrative tasks related to employee salaries, recruitment, and compliance with certification requirements. This position requires a minimum of five years of experience in Human Resources and involves creating and verifying salary notices, preparing contracts, and ensuring proper documentation for employee transitions.

Responsibilities

  • Create, verify, and distribute notice of salary for all bargaining units.
  • Adjust salaries according to contractual provisions due to hire date and/or leaves of absences.
  • Provide completed verified salaries to Payroll for processing.
  • Develop materials for annual directors/principals meetings regarding staffing needs.
  • Verification of MITA staff placements, status of existing employees, and leave replacements.
  • Create, distribute, and follow up with all tenure recommendations, denials and probationary extension.
  • Prepare contracts.
  • Document, create, and verify employee payouts due to retirement and/or resignations.
  • Create the bi-weekly report for the Board of Education meetings.
  • Ensure all certificated employees maintain proper certifications set by NYSED.
  • Ensure all processes are followed for recruitment and termination.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in Human Resources.
  • Must be appropriately certified as per Suffolk County Civil Service Department.

Benefits
