About the position

The Collector position at Impact Fire Services is responsible for recovering overdue revenue efficiently and effectively. This role involves utilizing proactive collection techniques while maintaining a customer service-oriented approach. The collector will engage with customers to negotiate payment arrangements, analyze delinquent accounts, and ensure effective communication with the Office Manager and other team members.

Responsibilities

  • Call overdue accounts for payment, including 1st and 2nd calls, and 3rd calls if necessary.
  • Ensure collection efforts are performed with a customer service approach.
  • Analyze delinquent accounts and make recommendations for resolution on high-risk accounts.
  • Answer incoming calls/e-mails and assist customers and service managers/DM's with questions as needed.
  • Enter information into the tracking system for all calls made to customers.
  • Establish and negotiate mutually satisfactory payment arrangements and follow up with customers consistently.
  • Initiate small claims court actions, submit proper forms to the court, and appear in court to testify.
  • Research disputed balances and payments, updating Credit Bureau(s) for disputed accounts.
  • Process credit card payments.
  • Communicate the status of account problems regularly to the Office/Collections Manager.
  • Responsible for meeting or exceeding assigned goals.
  • Print, fax, and email invoices to customers upon request.

Requirements

  • Associate degree; 2-4 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education & experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience with Great Plains accounting system is a plus.
  • Ability to work simultaneously in multiple platforms.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent working relationship with the sales/service departments.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment.

  • Ability to work well with co-workers and superiors.
