About the position

The position involves teaching undergraduate aviation students a variety of maintenance subjects based on the faculty member's aviation licensing, experience, and interests. The minimum qualification is a Master's Degree, although a Bachelor's Degree may suffice if the applicant has full FAA licensing in the aviation maintenance field and extensive experience in the field, either commercial or military. Subjects taught include Quality Management ISO-9000, Human Factors in Maintenance, gas turbine engines, avionics, among others.

Responsibilities

  • Teach aviation classes to college students in person
  • Motivate students to study required flight or maintenance subjects to achieve a successful career
  • Assess your own courses in achieving the desired student learning outcomes
  • Grade all activities for each student using standard method, and report grades on time
  • Assist in departmental improvement and student counseling as desired

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in aviation or related field, with instructor qualifications from FAA
  • Bachelor's Degree with extensive licensing and experience in the field may be acceptable
  • No more than 1 FAA failed checked ride allowed

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree and previous teaching experience
  • Bachelor's Degree with extensive industry experience

Benefits

  • $900 per lecture hour ($925 per lecture hour if holding a PhD)
  • $625 per lab hour
