About the position

The position is for an adjunct instructor to teach Government courses, which may be offered during the day, evening, or online. Classes may be held at the Port Arthur campus, in dual-enrollment settings, or at Early College High School, with potential opportunities to teach in a correctional facility. The role requires a commitment to providing quality and innovative instruction while maintaining current knowledge in the subject area. The instructor will also be responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum-based outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality and innovative instruction while working independently in the classroom.
  • Maintain current knowledge and expertise in the subject area of teaching responsibility.
  • Commit to the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum-based ACGM outcomes and Core Curriculum outcomes.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork within the required time frame.
  • Attend faculty meetings and professional development as required.

Requirements

  • A Master's degree in political science is required, or a Master's degree with 18 hours of graduate work in political science.
  • Ability to work with students, faculty, and staff members in a professional manner.
  • Ability to plan, schedule, and manage projects and assignments.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, speak, listen, and see; occasionally required to sit, lift, pull, and carry objects.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience teaching in a two-year college or university.
