About the position

The Adjunct Instructor for Culinary Arts and Hospitality reports directly to the Chair of Business and Industrial Technology. The role involves coordinating activities and directing the training of students, instructing them in preparing and cooking foods in a commercial kitchen, and supporting the mission of LSCPA. The teaching assignment may include day and evening classes, as well as Dual Enrollment or Early College High School sections and correctional facilities. Other related work may be assigned as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate activities and direct training of students
  • Instruct students in preparing and cooking foods in a commercial kitchen
  • Support the mission of LSCPA
  • Teach day, evening and/or online classes and labs
  • Plan and organize quality instruction to maximize student learning
  • Develop, update, and post course syllabi in a timely manner
  • Participate in professional development activities
  • Maintain required office hours
  • Interact with students, faculty, and staff members in a professional manner
  • Oversee equipment set up and maintenance
  • Efficiently present information and respond to information/comments from vendors, suppliers, students and employees
  • Utilize various computer software programs including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation, and e-mail

Requirements

  • Associate of Applied Science degree in Culinary Arts or closely related field
  • Three years culinary experience
  • At least one year of leadership/supervisory experience

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts or closely related field
  • Five years culinary experience
  • Two years of leadership/supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of purchasing, ordering, receiving, and inventory procedures
