About the position

The Adjunct Instructor for Computer Information Technology at Jackson State Community College is responsible for delivering quality instruction in various formats, including on-ground, evening, off-campus, and distance-based courses. The role involves grading, reporting, and compliance with college policies, ensuring effective communication with students and faculty, and maintaining a supportive learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses via on-ground as assigned.
  • Teach evening, off-campus, and distance-based courses as required.
  • Post grades during the term for student feedback and submit final grades by the deadline established by the Registrar.
  • Complete required College trainings and reports such as attendance, Early Alerts, progress reports, and grade submissions.
  • Advise the Program Chair or Dean if unable to teach a class.
  • Attend meetings as requested by the Program Chair and/or Dean.
  • Comply with all College's and TBR's policies and guidelines.
  • Regularly check JSCC email and departmental mailbox, responding to emails/messages within 48 hours except on weekends.
  • Submit class syllabus or update department syllabus at least 2 weeks prior to the first day of class or within seven days of contract execution.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Technology, a Master's degree in Computer Information Technology, or a Master's degree with 18 graduate level credit hours in Computer Information Technology from an accredited institution.

Nice-to-haves

  • Collegiate level teaching experience.
