About the position

The Adjunct Instructor 1 - Automotive Engineering position at Ferris State University involves teaching AAS degree level coursework in the College of Engineering Technology. The instructor will cover various subjects related to automotive engineering, focusing on student success and utilizing current technology. This is a part-time, temporary position that requires the instructor to reside in Michigan and hold office hours for each class taught.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Auto Service courses.
  • Responsible for teaching Auto Service course objectives according to established guidelines.
  • Keep regular posted office hours scheduled at times convenient for students.
  • Participate in traditional functions with academic significance, such as reporting initial student participation data and submitting final grades on time.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion in working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office, Mitchel on Demand, and All Data as needed for course instruction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in automotive engineering or a closely related field, or a bachelor's degree out of field with an associate's degree in automotive engineering and five years of relevant industry experience.
  • ASE Master Technician certification may substitute for two years of industry experience.
  • Appropriate ASE certifications based on the content of the course taught.

  • Previous Career and Technical Education teaching experience.
  • Previous college teaching experience.
