About the position

The Adjunct Faculty position in Electrician at Lone Star College involves teaching Electrical Technology courses to students in a part-time capacity. The role requires planning, developing, and delivering engaging lessons that facilitate student learning and achievement of course objectives. Faculty members are expected to maintain professional relationships with students and colleagues, evaluate student progress, and participate in required meetings and training.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches Electrical Technology courses at various times and locations.
  • Creates engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material.
  • Submits required college reports and forms in a timely manner.
  • Utilizes a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines.
  • Meets with and advises students either before or after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods.
  • Evaluates students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and informs students in a timely manner of their progress.
  • Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
  • Attends meetings, trainings, and orientations as required.
  • Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Electrical Technology OR a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering or Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology.
  • A minimum of 3 years work-related experience.
  • Mastery of course content.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills emphasizing collaboration, teamwork, and facilitation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints and work effectively with a wide variety of people.
  • Demonstrated interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, course development, and adult learning methodologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in service learning/civic engagement and learning communities.
  • Familiarity with distance learning and effective use of technology.
