About the position

The Adjunct Faculty - Clinical Nursing (Fundamentals) position is a part-time role within the Health Sciences/Nursing department, reporting to the Interim Dean of Health Sciences or designee. This role involves supervising a clinical experience for up to 10 students for 12-15 hours per week, providing clinical instruction that aligns with theoretical content to achieve course objectives. The position may require teaching in various modalities including online, hybrid, or face-to-face, and may take place in multiple locations such as Attleboro, Fall River, New Bedford, and Taunton. The starting date for this position is set for the Academic Year 2024-2025, with a minimum salary of $1,397 per credit hour, commensurate with the DCE Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all functions related to clinical assignments, including making clinical assignments, correcting nursing care plans, and reviewing evaluation reports with students.
  • Provide regular, accurate, and timely feedback to students and the nursing/clinical team leader regarding academics, clinical performance, behavior, and attendance.
  • Work with the Nursing Department Chair and full-time Nursing faculty team responsible for the Fundamentals of Nursing course.
  • Instruct students in laboratory safety procedures, if applicable.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to address the college's goals related to technology, academic innovation, and equity.
  • Complete required trainings such as Title IX, FERPA, Bloodborne Pathogens, and Information Security.
  • Adhere to workload specifications in the Collective Bargaining Agreement, including completing book orders, creating syllabi, verifying student enrollment, and submitting final grades by the contractual deadline.
  • Be available to students virtually or in-person for assistance in meeting course requirements and supporting academic success.
  • Be willing to teach in the Dual Enrollment program or Early College at surrounding high schools.
  • Foster student success across the college's diverse student body.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned, consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a master's degree in nursing (MSN).
  • Current Massachusetts Registered Nurse license in good standing.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of full-time clinical experience in fundamentals nursing within the last five (5) years.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and technology common in nursing practice.
  • Experience working within nursing teams.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff.
  • Background check (including CORI/SORI) and possible drug screening required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience using High Impact Practices.
  • Experience teaching at a community college, preferably in a nursing program.
  • Graduate of Bristol's Adjunct Certificate Program.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Blackboard.
  • Prior online teaching experience using a Learning Management System.
  • 18 graduate credits in the area of nursing.
  • Ability to communicate in a language in addition to English.
