About the position

The Adjunct Faculty for Cardiac Sonography at Austin Community College is responsible for preparing and delivering coursework in cardiac sonography, focusing on innovative teaching methods that promote student success and equity. This role involves engaging with a diverse student population and ensuring that the curriculum aligns with industry standards while providing both didactic and clinical education.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and teach courses in adult cardiac sonography based on approved learning outcomes.
  • Evaluate student progress and provide timely feedback.
  • Provide teaching and mentoring services to students without discrimination.
  • Remain current in the field through professional development activities.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by the department chair or other administrators.
  • Conduct direct cardiac sonography skills instruction at the Round Rock Campus Sonography Lab.
  • Engage in course preparation, student assessment, and grading.
  • Participate in occasional evening/weekend duties such as open lab and outreach events.

Requirements

  • Associate of Science or Associate of Applied Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
  • Three years of non-teaching, industry-related work experience in cardiac sonography.
  • Active Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer - Adult Echocardiography, RDCS (AE) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience teaching students in a clinical setting.
  • Preferred experience using a PACS system.
