About the position

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Adapted Physical Education Teacher to join our team on a part-time basis. As an Adapted Physical Education Teacher, you will be responsible for providing specialized physical education instruction to students with disabilities. You will work closely with students, parents, and other educators to develop and implement individualized education plans that meet the unique needs of each student.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans for students with disabilities
  • Provide specialized physical education instruction to students with disabilities
  • Collaborate with other educators and parents to ensure that each student's needs are being met
  • Monitor and assess student progress and adjust instruction as needed
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with parents and other educators
  • Ensure that all equipment and facilities are safe and appropriate for students with disabilities
  • Communicate effectively with students' families to provide updates on progress and strategies for home support
  • Participate in IEP meetings and other school based team meetings to advocate for students' physical education needs
  • Remain current with developments in adapted physical education by attending workshops, conferences and continuing education courses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Physical Education or a related field
  • State certification in Adapted Physical Education
  • Experience working with students with disabilities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other educators and parents
  • Knowledge of adaptive equipment and techniques
