About the position

DaVita is seeking an Acute Registered Nurse for Hospital Based Dialysis who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of patients suffering from end-stage renal failure or chronic kidney disease. This role is crucial in delivering empathetic and compassionate care in a hospital setting. The position involves working three 12-hour shifts per week, typically starting at 5:30 am, with a varied schedule that includes working Monday through Saturday, with every other Saturday being a typical workday. The nurse will be trained over a three-month period, and no prior dialysis experience is required. The role may also involve on-call duties for patients who find themselves in the emergency room, with the schedule coordinated with the manager. As an Acute Registered Nurse, you will be part of a small interdisciplinary team of clinicians, providing care to patients with multiple co-morbidities that require unique treatment plans. Your responsibilities will include conducting patient observations, measuring vital statistics, setting up dialysis machines, initiating and discontinuing dialysis, and monitoring patients' well-being during treatment. You will have the opportunity to work in various hospital settings, including ICU, CCU, and ED, and may float to other hospitals after training. The position offers a dynamic environment where you will provide specialty nephrology care and become an integral part of both the hospital and DaVita team. DaVita's Inpatient Dialysis Program is Joint Commission Accredited, ensuring high standards of care.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver compassionate care to patients with end-stage renal failure or chronic kidney disease.
  • Conduct patient observations and measure vital statistics.
  • Set up dialysis machines and initiate dialysis treatments.
  • Discontinue dialysis and monitor patients' well-being during treatment.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a small interdisciplinary team of clinicians.
  • Provide specialty nephrology care in various hospital settings, including ICU, CCU, and ED.
  • Participate in on-call duties for emergency room patients as scheduled.
  • Float to other hospitals as needed after training.

Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
  • Associates Degree in Nursing (A.D.N) from an accredited school of nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N) preferred; three-year diploma from an accredited diploma program may be substituted for nursing degree.
  • No specific hospital experience required; just a valid nursing license and degree.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in ICU, Critical Care, Emergency (ER), Med/Surgical, or Skilled Nursing Care is a plus.
