About the position

As a Staff Auditor at USAA, you will perform audit assignments that support risk-based assurance and advisory engagements across the organization. This role involves identifying problems for resolution, applying knowledge of financial services regulations, and conducting evaluations of risks and controls. You will work closely with the Auditor-in-Charge and participate in various audit activities, ensuring compliance with professional standards and effectively communicating findings.

Responsibilities

  • Execute audit program assignments timely and professionally with guidance from the Auditor-in-Charge (AIC).
  • Independently test basic business, application, and/or IT general controls (ITGC).
  • Identify control deficiencies in testing and discuss with AIC and/or Audit management.
  • Review, analyze, and interpret data collected from multiple sources during testing.
  • Participate in team audit activities such as planning, scoping, and risk assessment.
  • Document audit findings and ensure alignment with audit test objectives and conclusions.
  • Communicate findings and audit reports effectively to AIC, team members, and business leaders.
  • Update engagement level risk & control matrix and other audit documentation as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Business, or Information Technology.
  • 2 years of audit, financial, insurance, banking, information technology, or related business experience if holding a Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience applying audit, risk, or compliance acumen in a business/professional environment.
  • If holding an advanced degree, up to 2 years of relevant experience is acceptable.
  • Experience effectively communicating controls with business partners.

Nice-to-haves

  • Internal Audit experience.
  • Strong understanding of actuarial principles and ability to perform thorough audits of financial models, assumptions, and processes.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks, including GAAP, IFRS, Solvency II, and NAIC.
  • Understanding of audit and risk management standards relevant to insurance and actuarial work.
