About the position

Everest Global Services, Inc., a member of the Everest Re Group, Ltd., is currently seeking an Actuarial Analyst I in the reserving unit for the Everest Insurance portfolio. This position will perform reserve analyses, quarterly performance monitoring, as well as working on data and automation initiatives. Location can be in New Jersey, New York, or Philadelphia. This position will analyze the Everest Insurance specialty property & casualty (P&C) portfolio. It will also assist with planning and financial reporting, and will collaborate with Pricing Actuarial, Underwriting, Claims, and Financial Services. This position may supervise junior actuaries.

Responsibilities

  • Perform annual reserve reviews as well as quarterly roll forwards on Everest Insurance business. Prepare presentation material and communicate findings to management and other key stakeholders.
  • Determine the selection of ELRs and prior year development results for various business segments during quarter close. Maintenance and support of files which produce the quarterly exhibits for quarterly reserve meetings.
  • Interact with Finance, Claims and Underwriting to facilitate management and financial reporting.
  • Collaborate closely with business division leaders, pricing actuarial, and claims to identify loss trends and emerging issues that could impact results and assist in developing proposals for corrective action in a timely manner.
  • Review reinsurance ceded loss estimates and determine allocation of treaty costs amongst the various business segments.
  • Help to further streamline and automate existing actuarial data flows and work processes.
  • Assist in completion of year-end reporting - i.e. Short Duration, Global Triangles and Schedule P.
  • Adherence to Sarbanes-Oxley process and procedures.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of P&C actuarial experience - reserving experience would be beneficial but not essential.
  • Strong Excel skills are mandatory. Excel VBA experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with ResQ, Power BI, Python, R or SQL a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with project management and process redesign approaches is a plus.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work well in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Highly organized, focused and detail oriented.
