About the position

The Activity Leader at Elderwood at Liverpool plays a crucial role in enhancing the social life of residents through engaging and enjoyable recreation programs. This position is focused on keeping residents energized, engaged, and mentally stimulated, contributing to their overall well-being in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Activities in planning and executing the activity program.
• Approach residents to plan individual recreational and social activities, reporting on their responses and cooperation.
• Prepare resident information for care planning and documentation, including writing progress notes as assigned.
• Develop and maintain good contact with community resources to enhance the activities program.
• Maintain departmental inventory of equipment and supplies.
• Keep attendance records and prepare other required reports.

Requirements

• Minimum age of 18 years required.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid New York Driver's License and clean driving record required.
• Ability to develop good relationships with staff, volunteers, families, and visitors required.
• Ability to inspire and motivate others, creating a warm and accepting climate for residents.
• Understanding of the rights and needs of residents required.
• Physical stamina for constant activity required.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English at an intermediate or more advanced level required.
